| About Arafat Haj Day |
| The 9th day of Dhul-Hijjah called as month of Hajj is known as Day of Arafat. This day is the important day in the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The day of Arafat is the 2nd day of pilgrimage. On this day at the dawn the pilgrims leave Mina to make their way to Mecca and arrive at nearby hillside and plain called Mount Arafat or plain of Arafat also called as Mount of Mercy. From this mount the Prophet Mohammed gave his final Farewell Sermon of his life. On this whole day pilgrims stand or sit near this mountain and ask God for forgiveness and supplications. Muslims who are not participating in the pilgrimage spend their day in fasting and devotion. |
