About Epiphany
The Epiphany is a one of the oldest Christian feast. It is celebrated on January 6th, which is 12 days after Christmas in the Gregorian calendar of every year in Austria. It is a public holiday in Austria. The observance had its origins in the eastern Christian churches, and included the birth of Jesus Christ. This feast is observed on carnival season. The feast was initially based on the Jewish Feast of Lights. The Julian Calendar’s falls on January 6th and Gregorian Calendar's falls on January 9th. In Western Christians celebrates on this day visitation of the Biblical Magi to the child Jesus and Eastern Christians commemorate the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River, his manifestation to the world as the Son of God. The Epiphany feast is first reference to ecclesiastical in Ammianus Marcellinus.
