Day of the German-speaking Community Holiday Resource
About Day of the German-speaking Community
"The day of the German-speaking Community of Belgium is celebrated on November 15th of every year in Belgium. It is a public holiday of Belgium. But it is not celebrated elsewhere in Belgium. The German-speaking Community is not strictly equivalent to Eastern Belgium or the Eastern District. The German-speaking Community stretches over 853 sq. km in the East of Wallonia, and includes ca. 67,000 inhabitants. There are German-speaking Belgian citizens. The city of Arlon, despite its German-speaking population, was not included in the German-speaking Community of Belgium. The competences of the Council and the Government of the German-speaking Community are defined by the Federal Consitution of Belgium, adopted on 17 February 1994.
