| About Easter Monday |
| Easter Monday is the Christian holiday celebrated the next day after Easter Sunday. This event is beginning on Easter Thursday and continues throughout the Easter Weekend and end on Easter Monday. This is the most important holy day in the Christian church. Easter Monday is public holidays declared by the Federal Government. It is customarily a day for visiting family and friends. Easter Monday is also the day when St. George is celebrated, in years when the regular St George's Day comes on or before Easter. The tradition of having a holiday on the Monday after Easter stems from the medieval festival of Hocktide. This was a two day festival on the Monday and Tuesday after Easter, originating in the eleventh century. Easter Monday is known as Bright Monday or Renewal Monday, and is the second day of Bright Week. It is an official holiday in Burkina Faso. |
