| About Revolution Day |
| Revolution Day is observed on August 4th of every year in Burkina Faso. Under the direction of Sankara the name of the state was changed on August 4, 1984, from Upper Volta to Burkina Faso, meaning "the country of honorable people". Geographical renaming is the act of changing the name of a geographical feature or area. Some names are changed locally but are not recognized by other countries, especially when there is a difference in language. Other names may not be officially recognized but remain in common use. One of the most common reasons for a country changing its name is newly acquired independence. |
