| Since the middle of the 20th century Bulgarians has been celebrating Labor Day. The labor holiday is celebrated through out the world which has been originated from the labor union movement to celebrate the economic and social achievements of workers. Most of the countries in the world celebrate on 1st of May and also popularly known as May Day and International Workers' Day while others celebrate it on the first Monday of September. The cause and the purpose of celebrating the labor holiday is the initiation of Eight-hour day movement which advocates eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation and eight hours for rest. In Europe, it has been celebrated as a rural festival and has an older importance. |
