| The Independence Day is celebrated on August 6th of every year in Bolivia. It is also known as ‘Dia de la Patria’. It is a national holiday of Bolivia. The Bolivia control passed into the hands of Spain in 1538. At that point of time it was known as Upper Peru. In 1825 Bolivia achieved their independence from Spain. After its independence Upper Peru acquired a new name. It was now called Bolivia after the revolutionary Simon Bolivar. Celebrations of Independence Day in Bolivia continue throughout the day in La Paz, it is the administrative capital of Bolivia. Independence Day is celebrated throughout the nation by organizing patriotic marches, cultural programs in various educational institutions, military parades and gun salutes. Today they are organized entertainment programs it’s all based on history and culture of the country. |
