| About National Heroe's Day |
| The National Heroe’s Day is celebrated on April 28th of every year in Barbados. It is celebration of the life and achievements of 10 of our most notable citizens. There are 10 Barbadian National Heroes. These 10 individuals - 9 men and 1 woman - came from different eras and different walks of life. Each and every one of them in his or her unique way resisted the injustices of their age and through principle-centred leadership. These 10 members are used their various talents to advance the cause of liberating their people from bondage. In 1998, Prime Minister Owen Arthur announced that April 28th would be National Heroes Day, dedicated to honouring our 10 National Heroes. Today particularly involved schools every year to spreading awareness of Barbados’ national heroes and conducted games are typical fare for Barbados youth. |
