| About National Aboriginal Day |
| The National Aboriginal Day is celebrated on June 21st of each year in Canada. The day was first celebrated in 1996. Today National Aboriginal Day is part of the annual nation-wide Celebrate Canada with celebrations centering on National Aboriginal Day, but continuing through St-Jean Baptiste Day, Canadian Multiculturalism Day and concluding with Canada Day. Most provincial jurisdictions, however, do not recognize it as a statutory holiday. Today has been designated by the federal government as a special day to celebrate the unique heritage, cultures and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people in Canada. |
