International Workers' Day is a celebration of the social and economic achievements of the international labor movement. Labour Day remains an annual public holiday, Switzerland now simply regard Labour Day as the Monday of the last long weekend of summer rather than a day of protest. May Day was officially celebrated under the Communist regime, and remains a public holiday. Traditionally, the day was marked by dancing around designated "May trees." |
