| In 1810 September 18th Chile gained independence form Spain. So, September 18th is the National Day of Chile. Chile is a long, sliver of a country, bounded by the Andes Mountains to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. It is a national holiday of Chile. The Chile people were would have to fight for eight more years to earn their total freedom from Spain. In this day they celebrated during a week full of fiestas parties. This includes parades, dances, drinking, eating traditional Chilean food, and music. Armed Forces day includes military and naval parades and events celebrating Chile’s military victories including their independence. Chile celebrates the day when the country began to be governed only by people from Chile, although Spain continued as overseer until 1818, when complete independence was won. Chile is celebrates their independence day in a five-day period from September 16-20. |
