| Cape Verde is celebrated the Heroes day on January 20th of each year. It is a public holiday of Cape Verde. National Heroes' Day is dedicated to the remembrance of Amilcar Cabrals and other war heroes. He is the National Hero of the Cape Verde. He was an African agronomic engineer, writer, Marxist and nationalist politician. Cabral led African nationalist movements in Guinea-Bissau and the Cape Verde Islands and led Guinea-Bissau's independence movement. The Portuguese enjoined the help of this former rival to bring Amilcar Cabral to meet Portuguese authorities to sign a document stating the independence of Guinea-Bissau. On January 20th the country people observed on his death anniversary. |
