| About Independent Czechoslovak State Day |
| The Independent Czechoslovak Day is celebrated on October 28th of every year in Czech Republic. On that date in 1918, Czechoslovakia became an Independent country from Austro-Hungarian Empire. From 1939 to 1945 the state did not have a de facto existence, due to its forced division and partial incorporation into Nazi Germany, but the Czech government-in-exile nevertheless continued to exist during this time period. Obviously the country dissolved in 1993 when Slovakia became a separate nation, but the Czech Republic still celebrates this 1918 independence. 90 years ago on October 28, 1918 the Czechoslovak National Council in Prague proclaimed the state of Czechoslovakia. |
