| The St. Wenceslas Day is celebrated on September 28th of every year in Czech Republic. Saint Wenceslaus or Saint Wenceslas was Duke of Bohemia from 921 until his death. He was the son of Vratislav I. He is a patron saint of Bohemia and so every time when the Czech nation was in a stew Czechs prays to St Wenceslas to help them. After his death Wenceslas was canonized as a saint due to his martyr’s death as well as several purported miracles that occurred after his death. He is the subject of the popular Boxing Day and Christmas Carol Good King Wenceslas. The Saint Wenceslas's tradition has played an important role in the Czech history. His feast day is on September 28 and since the year 2000 this day is a public holiday in the Czech Republic celebrated as Czech Statehood Day. |
