| Constitution Day is celebrated in Spain on 6th December every year. After the death of Dictator Francisco Franco in 1975, a general election in 1977 resulted in the sitting of the Constituent Cortes for the purpose of drafting and approving a new constitution .National holiday throughout Spain in commemoration of the 6th December 1978 when the Spanish people voted in a national referendum to approve the draft constitution, thus providing the way forward for the creation of a democratic system in Spain. |
