| About Feast of the True Cross |
| The Feast of the True Cross is the most significant feast-day after Pascha and Christmas. It is observed pm September 27th of each year in Ethiopia. This is the one of the Great Feasts of the Orthodox Church. For the feast, the Cross is placed on a tray surrounded by flowers or branches of basil, and placed in the center of the Church for veneration. The faithful light bonfires to commemorate St. Helen's bonfire that revealed the Holy Cross, and burn daisies to symbolize the incense that descended upon the location of the Cross. This annual festival is of great traditional and cultural importance and is celebrated with a procession through the streets. |
