| About Ginbot |
| Ginbot is also known as the Patriots Victory Day. It is a public holiday of Ethiopia. The Italo-Ethiopian War began in October 1935. Every year on May the Ethiopian people commemorate the patriots who gallantly fought the then fascist Italian troops. The Ethiopian Emperor, Haile Selassie, felt that it was hopeless to continue to wage war against an enemy equipped with such modern weapons, and he was forced into exile in England despite his plea to the League of Nations for intervention against the Italians. On May 5, 1941, Emperor Selassie re-enterred Addis Ababa and returned to his throne. It’s a great thing to ponder the triumph of brave and courageous people. |
