“Battle Day” is celebrates annually on Dec 8th in Falkland Islands. “Battle Day” and was established in the Falkland Islands as a national holiday. The people of the Falkland Islands in marking “Battle Day”, commemorating those who lost their lives on 8th December 1914. in what was the second major naval engagement of the First World War, when a small British fleet destroyed the infamous German South Atlantic Squadron; the following the war, 8th December became known as “Battle Day”. “Battle Day” to be commemorated with reverence and an occasion to be enjoyed as a celebration of freedom and liberation. The Battle of the Falkland Islands as the most decisive naval battle of World War I. It gave the Allies a huge, much-needed surge of confidence on the seas, especially important because other areas of the war—the Western Front, Gallipoli—were not proceeding as hoped. The battle also represents one of the last important instances of old-style naval warfare, between ships and sailors and their guns alone, without the aid or interference of airplanes, submarines, or underwater minefields.
