| Africa Day is observed on May 25th of every year of the African Union. It is an opportunity to celebrate African diversity and success, and join Africans around the world in highlighting the cultural and social energy of the continent. Africa Day celebrates the day when the Organization of African Unity (OAU), the precursor to the African Union (AU), was formed in 1963. "The Republic of Ghana is determined to work in tandem with all African countries towards the realization of the attainment of the lofty objectives we have set for ourselves in the Constitutive Act of the African Union". Africa Day Celebrations are taking place throughout Ireland during the month of May. |
