About Armistice Day
Remembrance Day or Armistice Day is observed on November 11th. Commemorates the armistice singed between the countries on allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France at 11 o clock in the morning. It is the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918. This date is officially marked as an end of world war but in cases of western Front, hostilities continued in other regions. In many allied nations this day has been declared as a holiday, to commemorate those, members of the armed forces who war killed during the world war. After Second World War the name of the Armistice Day has been changed to Veterans Day in United States and Remembrance Day in British common wealth countries. It is also holiday in Belgium, and also known as peace of Flanders field. Most of the countries will take two minuets slice as remembrance of 20 million people who war died in war. In the beginning of 1939 the two minuets silence moved to Sunday near to the November 11th in order not to interfere with wartime production should 11 November fall on a weekday.
