| About Carnival Monday |
| Carnival celebrations in Grenada are held during the second week in August, just one week after Emancipation Day festivities. Steel bands and calypso dancers take to the streets during Carnival Monday. It is a part of the annual Spicemas celebrations and sensational spectacle. It is a public holiday of Grenada. Today banks and most shops will be closed. The festival celebrated with music, dance with street marches and formal evening shows. Each year thereafter the first Tuesday in August was set aside as a holiday to commemorate emancipation. The party continues late into the evening until midnight when the official celebrations end. |
