| The Grenada Government has passed The National Heroes Law IN 1993.The Title was given to the persons who had given some unique contributions to the Nation. Hon. James (Jim) Manoah Bodden, was late executive council member was named has the First National Hero in 1994. Mrs. Sybil Ions McLaughlin the First Speaker of the Legislative Assembly was named as the Second National Hero of the Nation in 1996. Fourth Monday of January became a new public holiday for the National Heroes Day in 2003. A wall of honors was dedicated in the central George Town on the holiday’s first celebration in Quincentennial Square. There were the names of 500 men and women who played the vital role in the Islands development.
