| The Grenadian celebrates The Thanksgiving Day as a National holiday in commemorate the anniversary of October 25th. Traditionally, The Thanksgiving day is celebrated as to offer THANKS and GRATITUDE to GOD for the good harvest. Maurice Bishop was murdered 22years ago on 25th of October in 1983 due to intervention of armed forces, but historically it is celebrated as a secular holiday. In United States and Canada the Thanksgiving Day is primarily celebrated as a harvest festival. In rural communities, this event is not given much attention. It’s a Public holiday which honors the memory of the event which is celebrated in 1983. In 1967 Grenada attained the status of “Associated State of United Kingdom”. Sir Eric Matthew Gary was became the first Prime minister of Grenada and there was a conflict between him and the opposition parties. There was a launch of New Jewel Movement (NJM) by Maurice bishop.
