| About Holy Saturday |
| Holy Saturday is the final day of Holy Week. It is the day after Good Friday. On this day, the Church waits at the Lord's tomb, and meditates on His Passion and Death and His descent into Hell. Holy Communion after the Good Friday service is given only as Viaticum to the dying. It is a day of suspense between two worlds, that of darkness, sin and death, and that of the Resurrection and the restoration of the Light of the World. The vigil usually begins the night of Holy Saturday, lasting until Easter morning. During the day, the preparations at home which must be made for Easter Day are appropriate, however, because they keep our attention fixed on the holiness and importance of the most central feast of the Church. |
