| About Phagwah |
| Phagwah is observed for the month of March of every year. It is a colorful festival. The spirit--and high-jinks--are like that of Carnival. Phagwah literally paints the streets as kids and families "color" one another with dye and powder and chase away the winter grays. It is a public holiday as in Guyana. Today Hindus traditionally wear white on Phagwah day and indulge in the throwing upon each other of a harmless liquid called abeer. On this day Powder, perfume, and water are also thrown on family, friends and neighbors. |
