About Saint Stephen
The Saint Stephen day is celebrated on December 26th of every year. The feast is celebrated after the Christmas Day. St Stephen is the first disciple of Jesus to receive the martyr’s crown. Stephen name means “crown” in Greek. In Western Christianity, 26th December is called "St Stephen's Day" and "feast of Stephen". He is the first Christian martyr. He was one of the first seven deacons chosen by the early church according to the Acts of the Apostles. After Jesus’s death, Stephen has outspoken support to Jesus and the Christian disciples, led to his being tried for blasphemy by the Sanhedrin, and stoned to death. In Britain this day is celebrated as Boxing Day.
