| About Independence Day |
| Haiti Independence Day is celebrated on January 1st of every year, the same day as New Year's Day. On January 1st 1804, Saint-Domingue ceases to exist and modern Haiti is born. This declaration was made by General Jean-Jacques Dessalines. Many of the generals died by fighting for the independence, Most of them didn't see the first Independence Day. The festivities didn’t quiet until about 5 a.m. this morning. Haiti became the first Black Country to gain its independence. They were brave and zealous servants of their country, hoping that one day they would truly be unfettered. |
