| About Day of Silence |
| The Day of Silence is observed on March 7th of every year in Indonesia. It is also known as the Nyepi. It is the one of the most unique festivals of Indonesia. Nyepi or the Day of Silence is a marvelous festival and is a symbol of the tradition and culture of the country. The Nyepi, called New Year, is one of the most important religious events for Balinese Hindus, and this year, they welcomed the Saka New Year of 1931. The Nyepi Day is the day of absolute silence throughout the island when no activity is done, no traffic is seen anywhere, no fire is lit and no amusement held along the day. Unlike other New Year celebrations, this Nyepi is celebrated without much sound or cheer. Silence and tranquility is observed on this day because of which it is known as the Day of Silence. |
