| The Independence Day is celebrated on August 15th of every year in India. India gained their independence from British Rule in 1947 August 15th midnight. It is a national holiday of India. The day is celebrated to commemorate the birth of the world's biggest democracy as a national holiday. Today schools and people hoist the national flag through out the country and put them up on the rooftops and the buildings. People only go to offices to attend the flag hoisting ceremony. The main event takes place in New Delhi, where the Prime Minister hoists the National Flag at the Red Fort and delivers a nationally televised speech from its ramparts. A sort of social gathering is arranged in the educations institutions, wherein cultural programs are organized. Flag hoisting ceremony takes place within their respective premises. At the time students sing the national anthem and pay respect to their flag and to uphold the sovereignty of the country. |
