| St Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17 in every year. St. Patrick's Day is the Roman Catholic Feast day. St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. He lived in the age of A.D. 387-461. He was born in Britain. His parents were Calpurnius and Conchessa and they were according to the different versions are Roman citizens living in either Scotland or Wales. He was captured and taken to Ireland when he was at the age of 14. There he spent his six years in slavery by herding sheep. At the age of 30, he returned to Ireland as a missionary among Celtic pagans and explained the concept of Trinity with the Shamrock plant. He brought the Latin alphabet to Ireland to with his preaching. St Patrick’s Day is usually celebrated by wearing green, eating green food and even drinking green beer is said to be the use of the shamrock besides blue was the original color of his vestments. According to legend it is believed that St Patrick died on March 17 in 461AD. It is a national holiday in Ireland, and on the island of Montserrat in the Caribbean. It is a bank holiday in Northern Ireland and a provincial holiday in the Canadian province of Newfoundland. Dublin has a parade on St Patrick’s Day that attracts hundreds of thousands of people. |
