| Nowrooz meaning is the Iranian New Year. It is the new day that starts the year, traditionally the exact astronomical beginning of the spring. Iranians consider Nowrooz as their biggest celebration of the year, before the New Year, they start cleaning their houses and they buy new clothes. It is a national holiday of Iran. Nowrooz is cheerfully celebrated and observed by Iranian peoples and the related cultural continent and has spread in many other parts of the world. Throughout history, Iranians have continued to celebrate Nowrooz under Arab, Turk and Monghol occupation. It appears that this was a festival of sorrow and mourning, signifying the end of life while the festival of NowRooz, at the beginning of spring signified rebirth, and was a time of great joy and celebration. |
