Heroe’s Day or national Heroe’s Day is celebrated on October 18 annually in Jamaica. It is the celebration of the national heroes of Jamaica namely, 7 National heroes, Namely Nanny of the Maroons, Sam Sharpe, Paul Bogle, George William Gordon, Marcus Garvey, Alexander Bustamente, and Norman Manley. Acutally, Heroes day is refer to a number of commemorations of the national heroes in different countries and may held on the birthday of a national hero or heroine or anniversary of their great deeds that made them heroes. On this day there also festive activities taking place throughout the island. It is a public holiday in Jamaica. When Alexander Bustamante came to the country, the country Jamaica was in Struggle. Pay and working conditions were poor in between 1920s and 1930s and unemployed people moving around the rural areas of the city. In 1943, Alexander Bustamante founded Jamaica Labour Partry (JLP). The first general elections were held in 1944. He became the first Prime Minister of the Independent Jamaica. At the age of 93, he died in 1977. Norman Washington Manley was born on July 4, 1893, brilliant scholar and athlete, soldier in First World War and a lawyer. He founded People’s National Party (PNP) in 1938 and was elected as president up to his retirement in 1969. He fought and established social and economic society and life of Jamaica. Finally he died in 1969. Paul Bogle was born about 1822, Baptist deacon in Stony Gut. He was a firm political supporter of George William Gordon. His forceful demonstration achieved its objectives, causes change in official attitude, which made possible the social and economic betterment of the people. George William Gordon was landowner in the parish of St. Thomas. After Gordon entered in the politics, reduce the slavery. He divides his own lands, and selling to the people with cheap cost and organized a marketing system. He was executed on October, 1865.
