| About Culture Day |
| It is a day for promotion of culture and the love of freedom and peace. On culture day, schools and the government award selected persons for their special, cultural achievements. Culture Day is a national holiday held annually in Japan on November 3, for promoting culture, the arts and academic endeavour. Culture Day was established in 1948. It was first celebrated as a national holiday in 1868, to honor the birthday of the emperor Meiji. When was died in 1912, the holiday was ceased until 1927. The celebrations of the Birthday of the Emperor Meiji are locally known as Meiji-setsu. After his death birthday a celebration are ceased and is announced as Culture Day in 1948. An award ceremony is held on this day, are given by the emperor who is participating for developing of Advanced Science, the arts or culture. It is not restricted to Japanese. It is the day that the Japanese Constitution was announced. The date was made into a holiday to commemorate this event. |
