| Labor Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday in Japan, celebrated annually in Nov, 23. It is second national holiday in Nov. It was established to mark the fact that “for the people to honor labor celebrate manufacturing and give thanks to one another”. It is an occasion for commemorating labor and production and giving one another thanks. On this day the events are organized across the country. These events encourages about the environment, peace and human rights. Labor Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival known as Niiname-sai, in local language. This is the holiday established after World War II in 1948. Many trade unions in Japan are also celebrated on May first also. On this day parades to honor all the occupations within the city, some are peace demonstrations and for some people is a day of rest and relaxation. Japanese are more focused on resting and honoring the occupations rather than eating good food and spending time with family. |
