| The Memorial Day originally called as Decoration Day. It is the day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service i.e. in military service. In Liberia, “Memorial Day” celebrates on May, 17. Memorial Day is a United States Federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May, it is celebrated men and women who died while in military service to their country. But in Liberia it is the second Wednesday in March each year is marked as Memorial Day. It is a national holiday. On this Day, Liberians clean and decorate the graves of their ancestors. It is the day to clean, paint, sing and pour libation on the graves of the dead. |
