| About Independence Day |
| Liberia is a small country on the East Coast of Africa. Liberia’s and the members of the Union of Liberians in WNY are going to be celebrating Independence Day on July 26th. An Independence Day is an annual celebration commemorating the anniversary of a nation's assumption of independent statehood. Most countries honor their respective independence day as a national holiday. Every country celebrates Independence Day on specific dates when they brought freedom. The Liberia got its independence from the Americo-Liberian settlers on July 26, 1847. There are two events particularly important in releasing Liberia. First was in 1926, limited modernization of the Liberian economy and the second one was during World War II, the United State began to providing technical and economic assistance to the Liberians. |
