| Libya is a Greatest Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya. It is a country located in North Africa. Libya is the fourth largest country in Africa by area. In 1911 Libya was conquered by Italy, and is well known as Libya in 1934. After the World War in 1942, Libya was divided into three provinces, are under the control of French and British control. In 1951 Libya achieved independence as the United Kingdom of Libya. Libya has a unique political system which seeks to combine socialism, islam and the revolutionary philosophy of the country’s ruler. The 1977 constitution created an Islamic socialist state. Libya has the highest HDI in Africa and the second highest GDP per capita of Africa. Libya is a country of low population and large petroleum reserves. Libya declared its independence as the United Kingdom of Libya on December 24, 1951. Jamahiriya is an Arabic term translated as “state of the masses”. The word Jamahiriya was derived from Jumhuriya. Jamahiriya is a term which describes the type of state like “republic” or “Kingdom”. The word jamahiriya was derived from jumhuriya, thus it similar to “Peoples Republic”. Libyans celebrated Jamahiriya Day on 2nd Mar annually. |
