| In Latvia, first provisional government was elected by national council. The independence of Latvia was declared at the National Theater building on November 18, 1918 by national council. Karlis Ulmanis became the first prime minister of Latvia. He announced officially that the Democratic Republic of Latvia had been established. The creation of a national railway company was allocated to the railway administration in the organization of Latvia. It was allotted under authority the Ministry of Transport and Labor. Up to June 17, 1940 lasted the Republic of Latvia. Soviet forces occupied the country. To celebrate Proclamation Day of Latvia different events were organized. |
