Saint Devota is the patron saint of Corsica and Monaco. She is identified with another Corsican saint named Julia, who was described in Latin as Deo devote. Monaco is the world's most densely populated sovereign country. Saint Devote is devote in French, is a young Christian girl. Her body was stolen by night by Christian believers, put into a boat, transported to Monaco and buried in the chapel of a small valley called "des Gaumates". After her death, the governor of the province ordered for her body to be burnt. However, it was saved from the flames by Christians.
