About Cinco de Mayo
Cinco De Mayo is a holiday and it celebrates the Mexican victory in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. It is celebrated mainly in the state of Puebla and in US. The quest for independence started on the 16th of September 1810. The struggle moves on for 10 years. Finally, in 1821, the first independent Mexican government was established. After 140 years, the Battle of Puebla, Cinco de Mayo is settled in the U.S. consciousness that even the White House celebrates it. It is widely celebrated in many Mexican-American communities. Celebrations are mainly designed around the education of the youth about its historical significance. Mexican products and feasts including traditional Mexican beverages and music are the highlights of the activities.
