| About Epiphany |
| Epiphany is a Christian festival that celebrates the revelation of God in human form in the person of Jesus Christ. It is celebrated on January 6th of each year in many countries and it is also known as Theophany. In Mexico Jan 6th is the Three Kings Day and it is called as Día de Reyes. It comes to the 12th day after Christmas when the Magi arrived bearing gifts for baby Jesus. It is an eight-day feast, beginning from January 6 to Jan 13th. Children write letters to the Magi requesting a toy or gift that they would like, priest wearing white vestments, will bless the Epiphany Water, frankincense, gold, and chalk. The chalk is used to write the initials on the doors of churches and homes. On the day family members get together to a cup of hot chocolate and a piece of sweet “Roscoe de Reyes”, or Three Kings Bread. It is ring-shaped bread with very small plastic dolls melted inside. |
