| The Republic Day or the Day of the Republic is a major national holiday of the Republic of Macedonia. It is celebrated annually on 2nd of August. There are two major events in the establishment of the statehood of the Republic of Macedonia. The people of Macedonian have traditionally celebrated Ilinden. The Ilinden was organized by the internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization against Ottoman Empire. It has religious significance. It has national holiday since 1944. The main celebration takes place in Krusevo. |
