| The Independence Day of Macedonia is celebrated on 8th September, 1991, got from Yugoslavia. It is also celebrated as National Day of the country. On this day the citizens voted for independence of the Republic of Macedonia. The Independent state was confirmed with the declaration of the referendum on September 18, 1991. The constitution of Macedonia was adopted on 17th November, 1991. On 25th September, 1991 the declaration was adopted for independence at the first muti-party Macedonian Parliament. First time at Macedonia Square was to celebrate the successful referendum at which the Macedonian citizens voted for independent and sovereign state. According to the history, late 6th century AD, the south Slavic tribes settled in the territory of the Republic of Macedonia under the control of Byzantine control. |
