About White Moon
Mongolian Lunar New Year is called Tsagaan Sar, or White Moon, it describes the end of winter and the beginning of spring. This is the most important Mongolian holiday of the Year. White for the Mongolians is the colour symbolizing purity and happiness. It is the three day national holiday. It is the time to celebrate with their family. They have white food like their milk tea, fermented mare’s milk, dried yogurt, salads. Mutton is the Mongolian staple meat. On Bituun the last day of the old year, Lunar New Year Eve, families are gathered around richly served tables and have dinner. On this day they offer steamed dumpling (buuz), boiled meat, and a lot of dairy products.
