| About Human Rights Day |
| Human Rights Day is celebrated annually across the world on 10 December. It commemorates the day in 1948 the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is the day celebrated in US by cultural events and exhibitions dealing with human rights issues. The struggle against poverty has taken as a human rights issue in the world. The promotion and protection of human rights has been a major preoccupation for the United Nations since 1945. Respect for human rights and human dignity "is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world", the General Assembly declared three years later in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The protection of human rights at three levels was also discussed, namely the national level (Namibia), the regional level (African human rights protection systems) and the international level (UN human rights protection systems). |
