| About Independence Day |
| The Independence Day is celebrated on 15th September, 1821 in Nicaragua. The tradition of Nicaraguans continues the Act of Independence of Central America in schools throughout the country. A people commemorate the freedom and independence of the five Central American republics. People from other colonies in this region, felt it was time for complete independence. The bloody independence wars in other regions evoked the birth of a new, small nation, free and sovereign. September is celebrated as a patrimonial month; people hang out the blue and white flags at their houses. These exercises now take place on different dates throughout the year, during months other than September. The first stage occurred in 1821 when the Captaincy declared its independence from Spain on September 15. |
