| Labour Day is celebrated on May 1st of each year in Nicaragua and it is also called as May Day or International Worker’s Day. It celebrates the social and economic achievements of the labor movement. Members of the labor force are relatively unqualified and frequently changing jobs or moving to other areas of the country to obtain work. The establishment specifies no more than an eight-hour workday in a forty-eight-hour work week. The Nicaraguan social security program, passed in 1957, specialize workers' benefits, including maternity, medical, death, and survivors' benefits; pensions; and workers' compensation for disability. The minimum age for employment is fourteen, Ministry of Labor has the responsibility of execute labor laws, rarely, prosecutes violations of the minimum-age regulation. It is a national holiday in Nicaragua and several countries hold multi-day celebrations including parades, shows and other patriotic and labor-oriented events. It is formally recognized as an annual event at the International's second congress in 1891. The President says he will revise the national guidelines regarding education and health to reduce the child workers. |
