About Liberation Day |
Liberation Day in North Korea is established when Japan surrendered to Allies of World War II. It is a day, public holiday, marks the end of an occupation or date of an occupation. It is similar to Independence Day. It is also known as Victory over Japan Day (V-J Day), Victory in the Pacific Day (V-P Day). The surrender of Japan’s is held on August 15, 1945. In Japan, it is known as Shuusen-kinenbi means that "memorial day for the end of the war". On this day in Korea, celebrate events including a joint solidarity meeting, cultural performances and seminars. There is national cemetery to pay respects to soldiers killed in the Korean War. Artistes from North Korea gave performances in Seoul on August 15 and 16. Representatives of religious, labor, youth, women and media organizations of the country are organize several competitions on this day. |
