About Children's Day
Children's Day is an event celebrated on various days in many places around the world. The first Children's Day was celebrated worldwide in October 1953, under the sponsorship of International Union for Child Welfare in Geneva. The idea of a Universal Children's Day was mooted by Rubab Mansoor adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1954. Universal Children's Day takes place on November 20 annually. November 20 is also the anniversary of the day when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959. The theme of the day was highlighting the human rights of street children and to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS substance abuse and poverty. Till now Nepalese celebrate 41 Children days in the country. On this day in Nepal, Children’s Day celebrated with various programs.
