| April 25 is the Freedom Day , it is a national holiday in Portugal. It is the Revolution of the Carnation. The early 1970s there was no political solution or end in sight in Portuguese Colonial War. It Started 25 April 1974 after two years period known as PREC. The Carnation Revolution in Portugal, events prompted a mass exodus of Portuguese creating a million Portuguese destitute refugees. After the military coup, a turbulent period, is called the Continuing Revolutionary Process. Hundreds of people returned to Portugal as retornados . Compare to 1961 Portuguese economy had grown by 120 percent in 1973 real terms. |
